the futon mattresses were surprisingly comfortable for a ryokan experience. the rooms felt cramped for four guests.

The breakfast offerings were excellent, featuring a beautifully presented variety of traditional Japanese dishes that let me experience local culture.
The rooms are quite dated and show significant wear, which may be a dealbreaker for those expecting a more modern setting.

Best part? The amazing traditional Japanese breakfast! It was a real treat each morning. However, the old and worn-out room did feel cramped for our family of four. 😅

The futons were surprisingly comfortable, providing a decent night's sleep after long days of exploring. The traditional Japanese breakfast highlighted the local cuisine's diversity.
Every room smokes like a cantina on a bad day. The bathrooms looked like they hadn't seen an upgrade since the Clone Wars—small and fogged up quickly with no fan. They're also stingy with keys. only one for two people makes coordination tough. Pricing feels astronomical given the rundown state and lack of options, especially when you've got twin mattresses crammed into a space meant for four. You'd think with that kind of cost, comfort would be a priority.

The location next to Kyoto Station couldn’t have been more convenient. I enjoyed the traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and the futon bedding—a true cultural experience. The breakfast was exceptional, featuring a delightful variety of dishes presented beautifully each morning. Staff were polite and accommodating, even remembering my name, which added a personal touch to my stay. However, I noticed that all rooms were smoking, which wasn't clear when I booked. The bathroom could use updating as it felt quite old-fashioned and cramped. Additionally, while the communal bath was a nice touch, it may not meet expectations for those used to more luxurious onsen experiences. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall charm of the ryokan made my stay enjoyable.

Convenience with a touch of tradition
Staying just minutes from Kyoto Station was a dream. The friendly staff welcomed us warmly, and the breakfast was a delight, highlighting local flavors served beautifully each morning.
The building shows its age, and the rooms felt tired. My futon was too thin for a comfortable sleep, and I noticed old-style doors and limited internet access, which was inconvenient.

The location of this ryokan is fantastic—you’re just a four-minute walk from Kyoto Tower. Our breakfast experience was delightful, with various traditional dishes served carefully, making us truly appreciate the local culture. We stayed with our niece, and she loved the cozy atmosphere.
In my wife’s opinion, the mattresses were very uncomfortable for our family.
